Advanced Technology for Every Smile

At Southern Magnolia Dental, we believe modern dentistry should be both comfortable and highly effective. Today’s technology allows us to provide treatment with greater accuracy, improved comfort, and faster results than ever before. Dr. Connor Sheffield has invested in advanced tools to ensure every patient receives the highest quality of care in a welcoming environment.

Whether it’s capturing a 3D image of your jaw with CBCT, creating a custom crown in just one visit with CEREC®, or using digital scans instead of messy impressions, our technology is designed with patients in mind. These innovations help us detect issues earlier, minimize discomfort, and deliver results that look natural and last longer. From digital x-rays to advanced air filtration, every detail in our office is chosen to make your experience safer, easier, and more precise.

  • CBCT Machine

Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) provides dentists with a 3D view of the teeth, jawbone, and surrounding structures. Unlike traditional x-rays, which only show a flat, two-dimensional image, CBCT offers precise, detailed scans that allow for more accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. This is especially useful for dental implants, root canals, orthodontics, and detecting hidden issues.

    Benefits of CBCT include:

    • More accurate planning for implants, extractions, and orthodontic treatment
    • Enhanced detection of bone structure, nerve pathways, and soft tissues
    • Lower radiation exposure compared to traditional CT scans
    • Improved patient outcomes through customized treatment approaches
  • CEREC®

CEREC® (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) revolutionizes how dental restorations are made. Traditionally, crowns and veneers required multiple visits and temporary restorations while waiting for lab results. With CEREC®, dentists can take digital impressions, design your restoration, and create it in-office, all in a single appointment.

    Benefits of CEREC® include:

    • Same-day treatment for crowns, veneers, and inlays/onlays
    • No messy impression trays thanks to digital scanning
    • Durable restorations designed with precision technology
    • Fewer appointments and less time away from work or school
  • 3Shape Trios Digital Wand

The 3Shape Trios Digital Wand replaces old-fashioned dental impressions with quick, comfortable digital scans. Instead of using sticky impression material, your dentist gently moves a handheld wand around your mouth to capture precise 3D images. These scans are used to design aligners, crowns, bridges, and other appliances.

    Benefits of 3Shape Trios include:

    • No discomfort from traditional impression trays
    • Highly detailed 3D models for better results
    • Faster turnaround for crowns and appliances
    • Visual scans patients can see immediately
  • MouthWatch Intraoral Camera

The MouthWatch Intraoral Camera is a small device that lets patients see exactly what the dentist sees. Images are displayed in real time on a screen, showing clear pictures of cavities, cracks, and gum concerns. This makes it easier for patients to understand their treatment options and feel confident in their care.

    Benefits of intraoral cameras include:

    • Clear visuals that improve communication
    • Better understanding of diagnoses and treatment needs
    • Stronger trust between dentist and patient
    • Stored images that help track progress over time
  • Digital X-Rays

Digital radiography uses sensors instead of film to capture images instantly. These images appear right on a computer screen, cutting down on wait times and reducing radiation exposure. Dentists can enhance the images, share them easily, and keep precise electronic records for long-term tracking.

    Benefits of digital x-rays include:

    • Lower radiation than traditional x-rays
    • Clearer and sharper images for better diagnosis
    • Immediate results displayed within seconds
    • Easy electronic storage and sharing
    • Environmentally friendly with no chemicals or film
  • Surgically Clean Air Filtration

Surgically Clean Air units go far beyond ordinary air filters. These advanced medical-grade systems use multiple filtration stages and UV sterilization to remove bacteria, viruses, mold, allergens, and even odors from the air. This creates a healthier and safer environment for both patients and staff during every visit.

Benefits of Surgically Clean Air include:

    • Cleaner, healthier air throughout the office
    • Removal of harmful airborne pathogens
    • A fresher and more comfortable environment
    • Extra peace of mind for patients and staff
  • Laser (Brand TBD)

Dental lasers use focused beams of light energy to provide a wide range of treatments, including gum reshaping, cavity removal, and teeth whitening. Lasers make procedures more comfortable and allow for faster healing compared to traditional methods. Once finalized, the laser system at Southern Magnolia Dental will bring advanced treatment options to patients in a gentle and precise way.

    Benefits of dental lasers include:

    • Gentle treatment with minimal discomfort
    • Faster healing with less bleeding and swelling
    • Fewer procedures requiring anesthesia
    • Effective use in cosmetic and restorative dentistry
